Former law office will house a restaurant

The building at 4201 Annandale Road is getting a makeover.

A small restaurant and an office will share a building undergoing renovation on the corner of Annandale Road and Poplar Street in Annandale.

The restaurant will be Shawarma Taco, a casual eatery featuring a mashup of Middle Eastern and Mexican food. There is a Shawarma Taco in Springfield Mall; this will be the second location.

The owner of the building, Fozan Ghannam, is moving his accounting and tax business, Olwan, Ghannam & Associates, to a section of the building at 4201 Annandale Road. He is relocating to Annandale because the company is outgrowing its current space in Bailey’s Crossroads.

Ghannam plans to open his office in its new location in about three months, as soon as the renovation is completed. Shawarma Taco is still going through the permitting process and should open by the end of the year.

The building had been the longtime headquarters of the Kassabian & Kassabian law firm. Albert Kassabian practiced law for nearly 70 years until he passed away in 2019 at age 96. His son and former law partner, Brett Kassabian, is a circuit court judge in Fairfax County.

  1. Looks like a solid fast-casual option for some Shawarma chicken sandwiches. I love chicken shawarma and most of the ones around here are fried on a griddle, but the one in Springfield looks like it’s done properly on a verticle spot. This is close enough that I can bike to, will be visiting it once it opens!
