Hidden Oaks gets a new gate

A new gate welcomes families to Nature Playce.

A major expansion and renovation project was just completed at Hidden Oaks in July, and now the nature center has something else new.

Chainsaw artist Andrew Mallon created a new gate for the outdoor Nature Playce play area featuring local animals – an owl, snake, frog, dragonfly, skink, butterfly, and more.

In 2019, Mallon carved woodland creatures onto a dead tulip poplar at Hidden Oaks that had been struck by lightning.

The Rotary Club of Bailey’s Crossroads provided funds for the gate and also for a carved bench next to the tree sculpture.
