Hogge Park playground to get swings

The playground at Hogge Park.

The playground at the Boyd A. and Charlotte M. Hogge Park in Bailey’s Crossroads will be closed Sept. 5-29 for the installation of swings, the Park Authority announced.

This project requires expanding the playground surface and the removal and replacement of the fence installed as part of a $2 million renovation of Hogge Park completed in December 2022. The park is located at 3139 Glen Carlyn Road.

All the other park features – the pavilion, field, trails, community gardens, pickleball courts, and basketball court – will remain open.

During the project, residents can expect occasional truck traffic entering and exiting the property. Four parking spaces will be reserved for construction activities and truck parking.

  1. We rented the pavilion there for my kids’ birthday in May. Kids played in the playground somewhat but I think it’s lame and idiotic that playgrounds are built without the basics such as slides and swings. Sounds like park authority or whoever got the message and decided to fix this but at an additional cost of $2 million.
