Large Asian event happening in Annandale on May 23

The community is invited to an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration on Saturday, May 23, 2-6 p.m., at the Eileen Garnett Civic Space in Annandale.
The AAPI celebration, at 7200 Columbia Pike, features more than 50 food and other vendors, music and dance performances highlighting a variety of Asian cultures, a fashion show, crafts, an eating contest, and community organizations.
The event is hosted by the Fairfax County Community Revitalization Section and the Park Authority in partnership with the DMV Asian Night Market, the Asian American Community Center, and the Korean Community Service Center.
The DMV Asian Night Market will stay open until 9 p.m.

One of the organizations participating in the AAPI event, Make Us Visible VA, is hosting an art contest for students ages 3-12 with the theme: “Reflections of the Past, Visions for the Future: What Culture and Heritage Mean to Me.”
Photos of artworks, with the child’s name and grade, should be submitted to [email protected] by May 22. The winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. at the AAPI festival.
Make Us Visible is a national organization that advocates for the inclusion of Asian-American history in K-12 schools.
Off-site parking will be available at the Annandale Post Office at 4270 John Marr Drive and United Baptist Church at 7100 Columbia Pike.
