A Legoland Discovery Center is coming to the Springfield Town Center.

The Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, the owner of the shopping mall, announced an agreement with Merlin Entertainments to open a 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction in 2023.

The Legoland Discovery Center will offer Lego-themed rides, a 4D theater, and other attractions, as well as a Lego store. It will be located on the lower level of the mall next to the main entrance.

There are 13 Legoland Discovery Centers in the U.S. and 16 overseas.

The closest one, outside Philadelphia, has an Imagination Express train ride, replicas of the city’s landmarks made from more than a million Lego bricks, a Pirate Adventure Land ride, life-size Lego characters, a Ninjago training camp and laser maze, Lego-themed 4D movies, and hands-on activities.

“We are so pleased to welcome this new attraction to Fairfax County,” said Supervisor Rodney Lusk (Lee).  It will ”drive additional economic development, attract a broader array of tourists to our county, and provide a valuable amenity for our residents.”
