Longtime Annandale business for sale
Another longtime Annandale business is facing a big change. Express Shoe Repair, at 7048 Columbia Pike, is for sale.
A notice on BizBuySell says the owners are asking $25,000, which includes all the equipment in the store. The new owner would also need to sign a new lease with the Annandale Shopping Center.
Express Shoe Repair does alterations, luggage repair, and leatherwork, as well as fixing shoes.

Anna Koundakjian and her husband founded Express Shoe Repair in 1985, five years after they immigrated to the U.S. from an Armenian enclave in Lebanon. They are ready to retire, and Anna plans to start a new hobby – quilting.
Totally wonderful people, and credit to the community. The work was professional as their friendliness was an asset to Annandale Shopping Center. They will be missed.
I did not know there was such thing as luggage repair, I’ll bring my Samsonite in for a repair!
I did not go there often but when I did they were the sweetest people. I hope they enjoy retirement. They deserve it.
Very kind shop owner and very honest. I once took a favorite pair of sandals in for repair..he told me it would probably be cheaper to buy another pair!! Enjoy your well earned retirement!
Terrible news. Greg and Anna are talented and hardworking craftspeople as well as kind and social people with many friends and admirers. They have been good neighbors and good citizens. My family wishes them well.

A lost art, repair of things that we consider throw-away today. And very good craftspeople obviously loved by their customers.
I had excellent repair work done on many pairs of work shoes before I retired, and I always enjoyed the variety of products at AnnSandra. So sorry to lose such fine retail businesses 😢.
