Farewell, AnnSandra

AnnSandra, an Annandale institution for 42 years, is relocating to Bethesda, Md. The last day at its current location, 4417 John Marr Drive, is Saturday, March 26.

Most of the merchandise has already been sold or been moved to the new store, at 7920 Woodmont Ave., Suite 305.

Everything that’s left is 50 to 90 percent off, including china, glassware, gifts, art books, bowls, cake stands, and display tables and shelves.

“We’ll miss it here,” says Sandra Ann Davidson, who founded AnnSandra in 1980. Several employees are relocating to the new store, including Fred and Tracy.

Davidson encourages customers to take advantage of the store’s online and phone shopping services. The store’s phone number, 703-354-2110, will remain in service for a year. Check out AnnSandra’s Instagram page to see what’s new.

Annandale Today has heard that AnnSandra’s space in Annandale and the adjacent store that formerly housed Party Co will be a Mega Mart grocery store, but we haven’t been able to confirm that.

  1. I am very sorry that this business is leaving Annandale. I always found great gifts here. We need to get some new businesses to our area.

  2. The only new businesses we get are rejects. She clearly is leaving for greener pastures in Bethesda.

    1. Local businesses, like local politicians, are a reflection of the population. Pay yourself on the back.

Also, Bethesda sucks because it’s in Maryland. I’ll take all the vape/sex shops and karaoke dives that we can pack into Annandale – bursting with glee – before I start fawning over MD or DC. **Puke**

  3. I’m so very sorry to see this wonderful business and its staff move to another state. I was always able to find what I needed in their store. Best of Luck in the new location.

  4. I’m so very sorry to read all the view points founded in racism on this post. Annandale is a neighborhood that celebrates diversity!

  5. I will miss you- I grew up with your shop being the go to place for all things gift. Sandie and Fred helped me learn to make great bows. A present from your store always meant something special. Very best of luck to you in your new location. Bethesda is lucky to have you.

  6. How sad! I loved the shop, and enjoyed long, lively chats with Sandy, Fred and other wonderful staff over many decades. The extensive selection of gifts was phenomenal, and I often “gifted” our home.

Indeed, to my knowledge it was the only store in the area that filled that need. And, yes, the gorgeous wrapping was unique. Anyone receiving an AnnSandra gift felt very special.

  7. How did I miss this?!?
My noooooo should be heard all the way to Bethesda. Just drove by and noticed the empty store.
Thank you, Fred for all your excellent service!
Sandie, wishing you much stamina and good luck.

  8. I also just recently saw that Anne Sandra was gone. In moving to Annandale 25 years ago, I was surprised to see such a terrific higher end store in our midst. They always had beautiful and unique things to sell.

This new owner has pushed out great stores for a food mart that we seem to have plenty of, including the new store in the Former KMart site, among others.

This is a diverse community. We should be incentivising a diverse group of retailers.

  9. Fred and Sandee. I just found out your had moved. NO. NO. NO. I have bought gifts from your store for over too many years. Everyone I would give a gift from your store would recognize the bow and would immediately know it was a special gift.
I will for sure visit your MD store even though I really hate MD drivers.
I wish you good fortune and hope to see you sooner than later.
    Sheila Holt.

  10. I just found out my favorite store has moved to Bethesda. A little far to drive from VA, but I will definitely visit.

  11. My husband and I were so sad to see that the store was dark. Love this store enough to make the trek to Bethesda, but we need another Oriental grocery like NOT! I already feel like I live in Korea. I will miss your store so much! The end of an era for sure…
