Man fatally stabbed in Bailey’s Crossroads

Fairfax County Police arrested a man for a fatal stabbing in the Culmore area of Bailey’s Crossroads on March 29.

Officers from the Mason Police Station responded to a report of a stabbing in the 6000 block of Bellview Drive shortly before 9 p.m. They found an adult male inside a residence with multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

The victim was transported to a hospital in life-threatening condition and was later pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau identified the suspect as Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 38, of no fixed address.

With the assistance of Fairfax 1, officers quickly located him in a vehicle in the 11000 block of James Swart Circle in Fairfax and took him into custody without incident.

Chavarria Muy was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Second-Degree Murder. He is being held without bond.

Police believe the victim and suspect knew one another. According to 7NewsDC, Chavarria Muy is an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala.

Detectives continue to conduct interviews and process evidence recovered from the scene to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing.
