New DMV center to open this month

The new DMV center on Braddock Road.

A new Department of Motor Vehicles Service Center is scheduled to open Jan. 22 at 9855 Braddock Road in Fairfax.

It will replace the much smaller one in Fair Oaks Mall, which is closing on Jan. 11.

The new DMV center will have 20 service windows, a new countertop design to improve customer flow, and outdoor space for road skills testing. It will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday.

The DMV offers more than 50 types of transactions online, including license renewal, vehicle registration renewal, title replacement, address changes, and license plate purchases. Customers can begin the process online to upgrade their license to a REAL ID before arriving.

The new DMV center on Braddock Road is adjacent to Woodleigh Chase, a 12-building housing complex for seniors developed by Erickson Senior Living. The first residents are expected to move in in early 2024.

  1. It’s better they have it in Braddock area so those people do not have to come to Bailey’s with their depression and anger issues

    1. Crime reports appear to have it the other way around. Anger and depression result in more crime in Bailey’s. Besides more space at cheaper rates for taxpayers out there.
