The latest subgroups in the 1b frontline essential workers group who can now get vaccinated include officials needed to maintain continuity of government, clergy and faith leaders, and janitorial and cleaning staff.
New Virginia program offers free community college tuition to lower-income students
Northam signs legislation enacting the G3 program. Students from low and middle-income households in Virginia are now eligible for free tuition at community colleges in certain high-demand fields. Gov. Ralph Northam signed legislation March 29 at the Alexandria campus of Northern Virginia Community College creating the “Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back” (G3) initiative.
Fire damages Annandale store
Fairfax County firefighters extinguished a fire March 29 at the Dollar Plus store at 7875 Heritage Drive in Heritage Mall in Annandale. Some smoke, but no fire, spread to nearby stores. There were no injuries.

Man attacks people at senior center
The Lincolnia Senior Center The Fairfax County Police Department reports the following recent crimes in the Annandale/Mason District area: A man entered a building at the Lincolnia Senior Center being used as a hypothermia shelter (4710 N. Chambliss St.) shortly before 7 a.m. on March 20 and began assaulting several people.
