Park Authority seeks job applicants

Green Spring Gardens

The Fairfax County Park Authority has scheduled two open-hire events to fill part-time seasonal and year-round positions at park locations across the county.

Positions are available at eight parks, including Green Spring Gardens and Lake Accotink Park

Job seekers are invited to come to one of these events to meet staff, apply for a job, be interviewed, and potentially walk away with a job:

  • Saturday, March 9, at the Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.,
  • Saturday, March 16, at the park office at Lake Accotink Park, 7500 Accotink Park Road, Springfield, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Visit this page to see the list of job openings. You can also submit an application online for a summer job.

Pay ranges from $12 to $18 an hour depending on the position and experience. Additionally, new employees hired to support summer operations may be eligible for a $500 sign-on bonus.

  1. $12/hr to deal with the homeless and MS-13? Let me dust off my masters degree and put on my best smile!

  2. It’s too low pay . No one would want to be about there in the parks and woods for 12 or 18 am hour . A McDonald’s crew would
Make more than that in dc .

  3. They don’t mention they are hiring summer workers at a much higher pay scale than what they even pay their year round employees. Summer Camp Directors can get paid $22+/hr and year round programmers who in some parks ARE the camp directors get barely $16/hr. What a joke. FCPA pay your part-time/”seasonal” employees better! Shame on you!

    1. You are neglecting the cost of health insurance, unemployment insurance, etc that the county must pay for full-time employees.
