Pedestrian killed on Arlington Boulevard

A 36-year-old man trying to cross Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) near Graham Road was struck and killed shortly after 10 p.m. on April 9.

This is the third pedestrian fatality in Fairfax County in 2021.

The Fairfax County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit preliminarily determined that Ramakant Bhusal, of Falls Church, was crossing Arlington Boulevard near Graham Road outside of a crosswalk.

He was struck by the driver of a 2012 Ford Fusion traveling eastbound in the left lane. The driver remained at the scene of the crash.

Rescue personnel took Bhusal to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased. According to FCPD: “Preliminarily, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver. The investigation remains active.”

  1. Again a pedestrian out of the crosswalk and worse at dark…
Pedestrians need to follow safety rules just as much as cars. Drivers are not anticipating a person running, walking out in front of them when they are driving.
    Sad for all involved.
When you are a pedestrian cross at a crosswalk.

  2. Darwin's law does not stop when it gets dark –

My heart goes out to the poor driver who's life are now ruined because of the stupidity of the reckless pedestrian.
