Police arrest man after 7-hour barricade

A gun and ammunition found in Meza’s home. [FCPD]

Fairfax County Police arrested a man after he had abducted and assaulted a victim and barricaded himself inside his home for more than seven hours.

Meza [FCPD]

The victim told officers at about 2:40 p.m. on March 10 that she had been assaulted by Silvio Meza Jr., 33, in the 6700 block of Chestnut Avenue near Annandale Road. She was treated at the hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police officers tried to get Meza to leave his house but he refused to do so. After they learned Meza might have been armed with a rifle, they brought in officers from the Special Operations Division, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Crisis Response Team to assist with the barricade.

Meza safely surrendered at around 9:45 p.m. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with assault, strangulation, abduction, possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

He was also served an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on possession of a Schedule I/II narcotics charge. He is being held on no bond.

  1. Glad he was brought in without incident, the victim will recover physically anyway, and with any luck this guy will be incarcerated to avoid future problems.
