Police investigation at Glasgow

The sighting of several police cars around Glasgow Middle School this morning has raised concerns within the community, but the Fairfax County Police Department says its a routine matter.

According to the FCPD: Officers from the Mason Police Department last night had “attempted to talk to two teens after detecting the odor of what was believed to be marijuana. The teens ran into Holmes Run Park, but the officers didnt catch up with them. Due to the foot pursuit, and the proximity to a recent crime scene, detectives returned to the park this morning to check for anything suspicious.”

Glasgow Middle School Principal Shawn DeRose sent a message to parents stating: “There is a police presence near our school this morning. Police are conducting an investigation that is unrelated to the school, and they may be on site for several hours. There is no risk to staff and students and we are operating on our normal schedule.”

Two bodies had been discovered in Holmes Run Stream Valley Park in March. Those homicides were related to increased gang activity in the area.

  1. Is it just me, or does it seem like there's a LOT more to this story than the police are telling us? The level of investigation they are doing seems a little higher than "We think, but don't know, that a couple kids might have smoked marijuana here last night."
