Police seek suspect for attempted abduction and indecent exposure in Wakefield Park

UPDATE: The police issued this tweet on June 24: “Detectives have arrested the predator involved in this attempted abduction. There is no threat to the community.”

Fairfax County Police are searching for a man who exposed himself to a woman in Wakefield Park in Annandale and then attempted to abduct another woman in the same park on June 21.

Police responded to a report of an indecent exposure at 1:40 p.m. in the park, located at 8100 Braddock Road. A woman said she was walking on the trail when a man exposed his genitals.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30-40 years old, approximately 5’6″, with a medium build. He was wearing a white shirt, dark pants, and a baseball hat.

While officers were responding to that incident, another call came in for an attempted abduction. A woman riding a bicycle in Wakefield Park said a man stepped in front of her, causing her to swerve around him and dismount.

The man attempted to pull her into the woods, but the victim pushed him and fled. The suspect continued to chase the victim and then ran away.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the man. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

Detectives believe that the same man is involved in both incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

This is an update of a previous story that has been deleted.

  1. Fairfax County says no concealed weapons are allowed in parks (bike paths). Good luck, ladies. May want to bring a capable man with you on your walks, runs, rides.
