Public invited to Raider Run 5K

The
community is invited to the last Raider Run 5K, a community running event at
Stuart High School, May 12 at 9 a.m.
The 5K and ends at the high school, 3301 Peace Valley Lane, Falls Church, and
winds through the rolling hills of Lake Barcroft.

The Baileys Crossroads/Seven Corners Revitalization Corporation is hosting a Fitness Fair after the race.

The Fitness Fair features Dynamic Gymnastics, EvolveAll Martial Arts, Cycle Bar, Dynamic Cheerleading, nutritionist Norah Shank, and PR Performance Fitness.
The 5K sponsor, the Raider Boosters, has planned some additional activities after the
race, including a one-mile fun run for kids 12 and under.

Running
clubs from Belvedere, Beech Tree, and Glen Forest elementary schools are participating.
It is a family friendly event. Dogs and strollers are welcome, and it’s
certainly acceptable if participants want to walk or jog.

There
are prizes for the overall male and female winners and winners in several
age categories.
The
Raider Run raises money for Stuart athletic programs.
Registration
is $15 for Stuart pyramid students, teachers, and staff if they register by 9
a.m. on May 11, and $25 on the day of the race. Registration for other adults
is $20 in advance and $30 on site. The kids’ race is $15, on-site
registration only.
Race
day registration is 7:45-8:45 a.m. Packets can be picked up May 11, 4-8 p.m.,
at Stuart.
Registration
includes a T-shirt. Additional shirts are $7.
So, why is this the last Raider Run? Next
year, when Stuart High School will become Justice High School and the mascot will be the Wolves, the 5K will be
called “Run with the Wolves.”

  1. I'm sure no irony was intended by bleating that "Justice sucks" and that we should instead continue to honor a man who conducted raids into other states to capture black men and boys and return to the South where they would be enslaved. Long may the wolves run.
