Michelle Reid was sworn in as superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools June 30 at Luther Jackson Middle School. Her job started July 1.

Reid supersedes Scott Brabrand, who served as superintendent since 2017.

“It’s important for me to remember that learning happens best in community, and this is an amazing community,” Reid said during her swearing-in ceremony.

“It’s a community that drew me because of the strength of the partnerships, the spirit, the passion, the resources of time and talent, and for the importance that this community places on education,” she said.

She previously served as superintendent of the South Kitsap School District in Port Orchard and deputy superintendent, district athletic director, and high school principal in the Port Angeles School District in Washington.

Reid was named AASA National Superintendent of the Year in 2021 for exemplary communications, her work in closing achievement gaps, and leading her previous school system through uncharted territory at the start of the pandemic.

Reid received a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Washington, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Washington, and a bachelor’s degree in natural science/chemistry from the University of Puget Sound.

  1. You are being gaslit, folks.

When FC police chief Roessler was “retired” in no small part due to a 98% vote of no confidence by rank and file officers, he was replaced by Kevin Davis of Baltimore, who is even more pro-criminal and anti-cop than was Roessler. So the root cause of the problem was replaced with an even more problematic root cause.

Now we have Reid from the Pacific Northwest for public schools. She is less experienced and more radical than Brabrand.

Going from Brabrand to Reid is like going from Roessler to Davis: throw the peasants a bone so they back off for a bit and think positive change is taking place, when in reality, we’re going to be worse off.

How’s quality of life and crime trending this year under Davis vs. last under Roessler? Davis has been here for a year.

The answer is: worse… just like reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic will be under Reid.

Argue all you want, this is what’s happening. Take a look at the numbers in a year.
