Ricardy Anderson of Mason District elected school board chair

Anderson

The Fairfax County School Board, at its July 9 meeting, elected Ricardy Anderson of Mason District as chair for a one-year term.

The school board also agreed to revise the 2020-21 school calendar to delay the start of the school year from Aug. 25 to Sept. 8.
The delay will give staff members additional time to plan instruction and schedules, provide professional staff development, and finalize transportation and other operational details.
Anderson was elected to the school board in November 2019. She is an educator, parent, community volunteer, and former Army Reservist. She has also served as a teacher and principal at elementary and middle schools.
The board’s new vice chair is Stella Pekarsky (Sully).

    1. Remember – You only need to work hard until you get the office.

Ask any other of our incompetent public "servers"

  1. As someone who worked to support Dr. Anderson's campaign for school board, I realize that I am biased: I think she is doing a great job and has her heart and brain in the right place. I am also always sad when someone feels that they aren't being heard – whether it is by a missed email or phone call. In this incredibly difficult time – budget crisis, health emergency, management issues – I would encourage all of us to presume good intentions, hard work, and competence. My experience has been that even with those I disagreed with on politics, our "servers" are busting their tails working for the community. If you disagree, I would challenge you to make the same sacrifice.
