Schools closed, bus service reduced

With more snow expected and temperatures staying below freezing for the next couple of days, the roads are expected to be treacherous.

Fairfax County Public Schools and FCPS offices are closed today. All extracurricular activities, athletic games, and team practices are canceled.

Fairfax County government offices will open at 10 a.m. The federal government is closed today.

If you see anyone who appears to be unsheltered and at risk for hypothermia, call the non-emergency police number, 703-691-2131. A police officer will respond and conduct a wellness check.

Fairfax Connector will be operating on a Saturday schedule today.

During the early morning of Jan. 16, Metrobus will operate under its Severe Snow Plan. Bus service will be limited to 40+ routes. Service will be limited to major roads with the possibility of detours depending on road conditions.

Metrorail is running regular service, though that may change based on weather conditions and staffing availability.
