Stand for the Silent works to end bullying

Chachi Girma spreads the word about Stand for the Silent in Annandale.

In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness Month, there’s a table in front of Collector’s World at 7006 Columbia Pike in Annandale offering information on suicide prevention and bullying.

The booth is hosted by the national organization Stand for the Silent. It will be up until 6 p.m. and might be back next week, said Chachi Girma of Ultimate Marketing, who is there to speak to the public and hand out gifts to people who make a donation.

According to Girma, 30 percent of all suicides of kids in grades K-12 in the U.S. are in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

There is another Stand for the Silent table in front of the CVS on Little River Turnpike in Annandale.
