Student sexually assaulted at Frost MS

Frost Middle School is being renovated.

A female student at Frost Middle School in Fairfax was allegedly sexually assaulted by another student in a school restroom on Jan. 12.

Fairfax County Public Schools is working with the police department’s Major Crimes Bureau to investigate the incident, which was first reported by Fairfax County Times on Jan. 20.

FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid and Frost Principal Anthony Harris sent a letter to the Frost community Jan. 19 stating they just learned of the incident and immediately contacted the police.

“This is difficult news to comprehend and I understand there may be shock, fear, and anxiety,” the letter states. “Counselors and clinical staff will be available to support any student or staff member who has anxiety or concerns.”

FCPS is providing additional security in the school and Frost is implementing a buddy system for when students go to the bathroom or leave the classroom.

“The safety of our students is our number one responsibility and we will always take immediate action as soon as we are made aware of any allegations of a crime or safety issue,” Reid and Harris state.

“At this time, the alleged suspect has not been identified,” they say. Because this is an ongoing investigation, “we are unable to provide additional details at this time. We also must maintain student privacy and confidentiality.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FCPS Office of Safety and Security’s tip line by phone, at 571-423-2020, or text, 888777 (keyword TIP FCPS). Tips can also be submitted to the FCPS Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3.

  1. School restrooms are dangerous. When are parents and officials going to admit that? It happens in so called good schools as well as obviously bad ones.

  2. Seriously, relax. Even if this ends up being whatever you are currently imagining, restrooms are not dangerous in our schools, unless you somehow already classify your home bathrooms as dangerous.

      1. If I may paraphrase, “I may not agree with what you wrote, but I will defend to my death my right to laugh at it.” Good one.

    1. VDizzle girls were getting raped in the restrooms when I was in middle school. It’s nothing new and it is not just in the bad areas.
