Stuff the Bus returns to Annandale and Bailey’s Crossroads

The Stuff the Bus campaign is coming back on two days this month to collect food donations to meet the needs of people struggling financially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
But this time, instead of having the Fastran buses park in supermarket parking lots, the buses will be at less-frequented lots throughout Fairfax County.
Stuff the Bus will be at the Mason Government Center in Annandale and the Woodrow Wilson Library in Bailey’s Crossroads 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on May 16 and 19.
Both of those events will collect non-perishable items for the food pantry operated by Annandale Christian Community for Action. The ACCA Food Pantry, like all food banks in the county, is running out of items quickly, as the number of people losing jobs and income is surging during the pandemic.
When dropping off food, residents are urged to wear a face mask, bring their items to the rear of the bus, and if someone is already there, wait until they leave before approaching.
These are the most needed items: canned tuna, salmon, or chicken; soup, macaroni and cheese; canned fruit in light syrup or juice; peanut butter; jelly; dried beans; rice; instant potatoes; canned tomatoes; pancake mix; syrup; hot and cold cereal; canned vegetables; canned beans; and healthy snacks, such as raisins and granola bars.
People unable to donate in person can donate online through Volunteer Fairfax.
