Suspect sought for bank fraud in Bailey’s Crossroads

Fairfax County Crime Solvers
is offering a reward of $100 to $1,000 for tips leading to an arrest and
indictment of a suspect wanted for bank fraud.
Last winter, a man opened a
business account at the SunTrust Bank at 5821 Crossroads Circle in Bailey’s
Crossroads and deposited a check in the new account. He later withdrew money
from the account several times before the bank determined the check was
counterfeit. The loss to the bank was more than $30,000.

A bank surveillance photo
caught the man making the deposit on Jan. 13 at around 2:40 p.m. The bank waited
several months before reporting the incident to the police and the police began
an investigation Sept. 22.

The suspect presented a
fraudulent driver’s license from Tennessee when he opened the account.
Detectives believe this case may be linked to fraud cases in other
jurisdictions and that other suspects might be involved.

  1. Since when does a bank honor a deposit with cash out before the check clears the federal reserve? And then hide the fact for 9 months? This story doesn't make much sense.
