Tattoo studio coming to Bailey’s Crossroads

Rick’s new location on Leesburg Pike.

Rick’s Tattoo is opening in Bailey’s Crossroads in early August, as soon as its permits are approved, says manager and tattoo artist Amy Barrow.

The shop is located at 5916 Leesburg Pike between Mama’s Laundromat and Halalco Supermarket.

Rick’s Tattoo is moving from its current location on Langston Boulevard in Arlington. Rick Cherry opened the business in 1980. According to Rick’s website, it’s the oldest tattoo studio in the D.C./Northern Virginia area.

The shop is moving because the owner of the building where it’s currently located wants to sell, which would mean higher rents and they aren’t able to buy the building.

There are five tattoo artists on staff and the new shop will have space for 10, Barrow says. People can bring an idea, and the artists will work with them to create a custom design.

Rick’s new location has been vacant since Bawadi, a Middle Eastern restaurant, was forced out in 2018. Bawadi moved to Seven Corners.

    1. And while you’re out don’t forget to stop by the sex shop… what a future our leaders envision for Annandale.

    1. Rick’s Tattoo is not ‘crap’. It’s an established and reputable business with a large and loyal clientele. Having said that, their Arlington location was always a bit dicey, so it’ll be interesting to see how it fares in a strip mall.

  1. This shop has been open for 43 years – the owner is well known in the burgeoning tattoo world and he runs a very respected business. I agree that a new tattoo parlor doesn’t have a great sound to it, but adding a busy shop catering to folks from all walks of life is a benefit.

I don’t have any tattoos, but if I ever decide to get one I’m glad there’s a good place to go in the neighborhood.
