The Glen Forest Community Pool is accepting new families for 2018

We have invited members of community recreation club boards to submit a blog post promoting their local pool and describing what makes it special. Weve already posted articles from the Holmes Run and Lincolnia Park pools. If you would like to write about your pool, contact the Annandale Blog editor at [email protected].

Summertime fun at the Glen Forest Pool.

By Alison Teitelbaum

The Glen Forest Community Pool, located in the heart of Bailey’s Crossroads, is your neighborhood pool and is truly an oasis in suburbia.

Our 25-meter pool is nestled in a secluded, private park surrounded by mature trees, a babbling stream, picnic tables, and BBQ pits. It’s so peaceful and quiet you’d never know that it’s just a two-minute drive from Route 7 and Bailey’s Crossroads.

Glen Forest Park in full bloom.

Throughout the summer, families reserve the park for picnics, birthday parties, community events, and even weddings.

Each year we kick off the pool season with a cookout and opening day picnic in the park, complete with a potluck, lawn games, and, of course, lots of pool fun.

Don’t worry – the pool is never overly crowded like some of those other pools in the area (you know the ones I’m talking about). You’ll always find a deck recliner, a spot in the sun (or the shade), and even a friendly member of our pool community to talk to.

We have a very diverse membership from Glen Forest and the surrounding neighborhoods, but also from as far away as Vienna, Herndon, and beyond. Each summer we enjoy welcoming both new and returning family and individual members.

During the day, families and kids on summer vacation, babysitters and nannies and their charges, and adults looking for a respite from the world make friends and fun in the sun. In the evening, parents come home from work, pack up their kids, and head to the pool to enjoy the waning hours of the day – often bringing dinner with them or having it delivered.

The pool, overseen by a volunteer-led board of directors from the community, is professionally managed with a lifeguard on duty at all times. Additional pool amenities include a toddler pool, diving area, changing rooms and showers, a snack and drink area, private wooded park, picnic tables, and BBQ pits.

We allow floaties and noodles, as well as food delivery. Glen Forest has a relaxed, family atmosphere. And there’s no waitlist.

This year we’d love to welcome you to our pool family. Complete an application to reserve your spot now; new families have already started signing up for the summer.

Visit the pool website to easily complete an online application form and pay your pool fees securely through PayPal or download an application form to complete and return to us via email or mail.

Can’t wait to see you this summer!
