Three Annandale HS graduates selected for the FCPS Alumni Hall of Fame

Annandale High School

Three Annandale High School graduates are among the 11 Fairfax County Public School’s Alumni Hall of Fame, Educate Fairfax announced on Aug. 22.

The Hall of Fame honors graduates of Fairfax County high schools who went on to successful careers in education, business, government, the military, the media, community service, and other fields.

The 2025 Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at a Sept. 17 celebration at Wolf Trap in Vienna.

The alumni from Annandale High School are:

  • Jim Acosta (AHS Class of 1989) – a broadcast journalist and anchor at CNN. He was CNN’s chief White House correspondent during the Obama and first Trump administrations. After clashing with Trump, he was barred from the White House and had to file a lawsuit to get his press credentials restored.

  • Amir Abu-El-Hawa (AHS Class of 2005) – Chief of staff for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Jeff McKay. He served as chief of staff for Mason Supervisor Andres Jimenez from January 2024 to May 2025.

  • Dennis Scarborough (AHS Class of 1985) – an Air Force veteran who currently serves as the executive director of operational readiness at the U.S. Transportation Security Administration. His previous job was policy advisor to an assistant secretary of defense at the Pentagon.

The other 2025 inductees are graduates of West Springfield High School, Lake Braddock Secondary School, Mount Vernon High School, Chantilly High School, Robinson Secondary School, and Fairfax High School.

Tickets for the induction ceremony can be ordered here. All proceeds from the event will support Educate Fairfax’s scholarship fund, providing financial assistance for college and career-based learning.

  1. I love how the author felt like it was necessary to put his grief with Trump in there. ODC area politics never fail to bring up a political conversation.

  2. You MAGAs are so sensitive. The author is just reporting the truth about what happened to Acosta.

Congratulations to the hall of fame inductees!

    1. In the pursuit of being factual and accurate, it should be added that after an almost 20-year run with CNN, earlier this year Jim Acosta decided to leave CNN and he is currently hosting a very successful column and podcast on Substack.

  3. Amir Abu-El-Hawa Is nominated for being a chief of staff for local politicians? That doesn’t make the mark in my opinion.

  4. Instead of posting about Jim Acosta’s dispute with President Trump, why not post about his interviewing a dead person through the use of AI?
