Beanetics to host an art gathering next month

Beanetics will be transformed into a temporary mini art gallery.

Artopolis, a three-day art-focused community event, is bringing artworks and live music to Annandale next month.

The free event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on Dec. 7, 8, and 9 at Beanetics Coffee Roasters at 7028 Columbia Pike.

Artopolis is aimed at building an artistic community in Annandale, generating enthusiasm for the participating artists, and increasing foot traffic at Beanetics, says organizer James Albright.

The event will feature a different theme and a different set of artists each evening. Community members will have an opportunity to talk to the artists while enjoying coffee or wine.

While the details are still being discussed, Albright anticipates showcasing three or four artists – displaying paintings, ceramics, and/or sculptures – each evening. The artworks will be for sale.

Local residents Jason and Nicole Llorenz, who purchased Beanetics last spring, are interested in making the shop more of a community gathering space and are lending their support to Artopolis.

Some of the artists expected to participate include Mahnaz Weldy, Daren Shumate, Christopher Parker, James Albright, Lukman Ahmad, Rebecca Morrison, Renee Newell, Michelle Detwiler, John Ballou, LisaMarie Adams, Helen Pappas, Lynn Fulling, and Anas Shallal.

  1. John Ballou! I haven’t thought of him in almost 40 years. Wow. Looking forward to chatting with him at the opening.
