Dance studio is moving to Annandale

International Dance at Pinecrest Plaza on Little River Turnpike.

International Dance is moving from its current location in Pinecrest Plaza to the former Treasure Trove spot in the Annandale Shopping Center on Columbia Pike.

According to the Pinecrest Plaza website, an ice cream shop called Mimi’s Handmade will occupy the dance studio’s current location.

Mimi’s Handmade, located at Pentagon Row in Arlington, offers some unusual flavors, such as grilled beets and olive oyl, as well as traditional favorites.

International Dance owner Elizabeth Hawkins hopes to open in the new location around Labor Day. The new space is much bigger, 6,000 square feet versus 1,720 in its current spot.

The dance studio offers classes in ballet, tap/jazz, and lyrical dance for ages 3-adult. It was founded in 1962 by ballerina Christina Heimlich.

  1. I can no longer dance, but I can sure eat ice cream. So I’m liking this change. I just hope it doesn’t have a negative affect on Jake’s which does such great work supporting challenged folks. Hopefully there’s enough clientele for both to thrive!!
