Farewell, Uno Pizzeria

Uno Pizzeria & Grill at the Gatehouse Plaza in Merrifield has closed.
The restaurant posted this statement on Facebook: “It is with profound sadness that on Jan. 28, our beloved location permanently closed. Thank you to all who have supported us through the years. We love you all and are eternally grateful to you.”
Uno encourages its customers to visit the Uno Pizzeria & Grill at the Kingstowne Center.
I worked there for 5 years and even met my future wife there.
Not shedding any tears over this one, however.
Those of us on fixed incomes and budgets really enjoyed Uno’s $7.50 Individual pizzas on Mondays and their $10 Blue Cheese Bacon Burgers (with a side) on Wednesdays. And I was always greeted by pleasant and courteous staff when I picked up my meals. I’ll miss this restaurant and its convenience. Kingstowne? Eh, don’t think so – just too far away.
any specific reason why?
Uno just didn’t keep up with the competition and remained as it did when they first opened. That was a mistake…a killer!
A good occasional treat, I guess all things pass. Haven’t been there in many years but I had many good meals there. I hope a good locally owned restaurant fills the space
That’s too bad. I enjoyed coming here for their Monday specials
Never eaten here but sad to see it go. My ex wife ate here every Thursday without me. Sometimes she would bring back leftovers from Roger, and I would get to have the crusts. I’ll miss that.
There was a bartender that worked there for many many years and was always so happy and courteous. I wish him well. Big restaurants are hard to fill and meet 2025 rents. Not surprising. Many restaurants that where given a delayed covid accommodation by the landlord are coming due so many restaurants you will see are cutting bait and closing up. The Wuhan virus and it’s closing down effects are still being felt in 2025.
I live in Frederick MD & a few years I would drive by the Unos up here on my way home from work ….its was super easy & hassle free & the personnel with sausage was always on point….but for the last few years I’ve been going to Ledos for pizza….its really good
Where will the Falls Church High School alumni crowd hang out now?
If one restaurant can’t handle the rent, maybe it could become a food hall like The Block.
