Gross launches re-election campaign

Some of the elected officials and candidates at Penny Gross’ campaign launch (from the left): Board Chair Sharon Bulova, commonwealth’s attorney candidate Steve Descano, Mason District school board candidate Ricardy Anderson, Penny Gross, Del. Marcus Simon, at-large school board candidate Karen Keys-Gamarra, Lee District Supervisor and candidate for board chair Jeff McKay, and state Sen. Dick Saslaw.

Mason Supervisor Penny Gross kicked off her re-election
campaign with a slew of fellow Democratic county leaders July 13 at her new
campaign headquarters in Annandale.

The vice chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Gross has been on
the board for 23 years,  and her campaign stresses the importance of experience
and institutional history, especially when there will be a significant number
of new members.

Gross will face Republican candidate Gary Aiken in the
general election Nov. 5.
According to the Virginia Public Access Project, the Gross
campaign has cash on hand totaling $127,512 as of June 30, compared to $11,083
for Aiken.
As chair of the board’s personnel committee, Gross has dealt
with the most controversial, difficult issues, said board chair Sharon Bulova at
the campaign launch. And as chair of the board’s environment committee, Gross
is the “go-to person in the county and throughout the commonwealth” on conservation
and the environment.
“We need to come together as a party and win in November,” said
Supervisor Jeff McKay (Lee), who’s running for the chairmanship. “We can’t
count on this being easy.” He urged Democratic activists to make sure people
turn out and vote on Election Day.
That turnout is important not just for Fairfax County, but to
shift the balance in the General Assembly, Gross said.
Sen. Dick Saslaw called Republican legislators’ action to
shut down a special session called by the governor to address gun violence “a
gift to Democrats” as they campaign to defeat incumbents and capture the House of
Delegates and Senate.

    1. Because Gross thinks that she is going to make Mason great again. She had her turn, she needs let someone else run this show. She is causing me to cross party lines and vote republican.

    2. This person doesn't align with my views 100%, so I'm going to vote for the person that I completely disagree with. Seems intelligent.

  1. It's time for Penny to retire.
The people want a fresh new face to hire.

    She's done her best.
Now it's time she got some rest.
