Hangry Joe’s to open in Annandale

A Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken restaurant is bringing another type of chicken to Annandale, which already has numerous chicken options.

The restaurant is moving into one of the vacant storefronts in the new shopping center at the corner of Little River Turnpike and John Marr Drive. It will be next to Wingstop, the chicken wings franchise, which looks like it’s ready to open.

The menu at Hangry Joe’s features spicy Nashville-style “hot chicken,” including chicken sandwiches, tenders, chicken with waffles, and more. Sides include waffle fries with cheese and fried okra.

A Hangry Joe’s restaurant opened last October at 3525 S. Jefferson St. in Bailey’s Crossroads.

There are at least 25 Hangry Joe’s locations in Virginia and many more in other states. There is one each in Dubai and Korea.

Derek Cha, the founder of the SweetFrog frozen yogurt franchise started the Hangry Joe’s enterprise in 2021. Annandale also has a brand-new SweetFrog shop.
