A mass COVID vaccination facility to open in the City of Alexandria at the end of March will serve Fairfax County, as well as Alexandria residents.

Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Jeffrey McKay, Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson, and Inova Health System President Stephen Jones announced the plans at a press conference March 9.

The Stonebridge COVID-19 Vaccination Center.

The mass vaccination site, located at 5001 Eisenhower Ave., will have the capacity to vaccinate 6,000 people a day and eventually up to 12,000 people a day.

All Fairfax County residents need to register through the county’s Health Department.

The Victory Center office building will be converted to the Stonebridge COVID-19 Vaccination Center. The 50,000-square-foot facility will have 64 vaccination tables, 400 waiting room chairs, 30 pharmacy preparation tables and pharmacists, and 20 administrative team members.

Fairfax County is seeing an increase in vaccine doses; it received 19,222 from the state last week, up from 13,000 a few weeks ago.

  1. Can we do something like this in FFX county? I have friends and colleagues in Hampton Roads, Roanoke and other remote areas who have already received their vaccine. This is the economic engine of the Commonwealth. We can do a lot better.

    1. I'd rather wait in a line outside than go anywhere near those 400 waiting room chairs.

      That just doesn't sound right.
