The annual parade returns to Annandale

After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, the Annandale Parade returned Saturday morning on Columbia Pike. Lots more photos are posted are posted on the Annandale Today Facebook page.

Among the participants: Several Bolivian dance groups in extravagant costumes, the Annandale High School marching band, Scout troops, Columbia Elementary School, the Annandale Fire Department, local organizations, businesses, and more.

The Annandale Parade is sponsored by the Annandale Chamber of Commerce. It’s been an annual tradition since 1950.

  1. I’ve always known it as the Annandale Halloween parade because so many in and watching the parade are in Halloween costumes. When my kids both have been in it or watched it. Did something change and I missed the new PC memo? The signs for the event are set up to Halloween theme. It would be sad if the “new speak” PC police got involved- they are the most zealous, nasty, of all self appointed officers.

This event is a great community and family event. The biggest “groan” was for the politicians, at least where I was, but that is to be expected – especially this close to Election Day. Besides at least some of them showed up (when most representing Mason don’t).

I love the: 1. diversity of the event, 2. the small town feel (despite being inside the beltway bubble), and 3. everyone is doing it for fun (not status). It is just one thing that makes Annandale great.
