Members of the Korean American community from Annandale and the surrounding area took part in the annual Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., on July 4.

The president of the Annandale-based Korean American Association of Greater Washington, Steve Lee, organized the parade group, which included a huge American Eagle balloon, a group from California playing traditional Korean instruments, and a large contingent of people ages 8-80.

“The Fourth of July is a traditional part of life in the United States. We, in the Korean American community, want to be part of that celebration while showing off our culture at the same time,” says Andrew Park of KAAGW.

  1. Would really like them to participate in the Annandale fall parade as the Korean population is a big part of our community. We used to have good Asian representation in the parade with festive banners and beautiful costumes. It would be nice to see it there again.
