Annandale youths march for racial justice

More than 100 high school and college students and community
members took to the streets of Annandale Monday afternoon to advocate for racial
justice, oppose police brutality, and honor George Floyd and all the other African Americans murdered
by the police.

June 8 marked the two-week anniversary of Floyd’s death after a Minneapolis police office knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.

“Annandale is such a diverse community. It’s important to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter,” said organizer Hlina Wondwossen, a graduate of Annandale High School who just completed her freshman year at Vanderbilt University.
