Explore a park: Deerlick Park

Deerlick Park is nearly all woods.

This article is part of our Explore a Park series on parks in the Annandale/Mason District area. The most recent piece in the series was on Crossroads Interim Park.

Deerlick Park is a 19-acre wooded oasis in the Springfield area of Mason District. It’s bordered by Braddock Road, the Edsall Park community, Immanuel Bible Church, and the Aarondale assisted living community.

Features: Deerlick Park has two tennis courts. They do not have lights. A circular gravel trail winds through the woods. There is also a mostly dry streambed.

The Fairfax County Park Authority lists Deerlick Park as an Invasive Management Area, and there is some evidence of ongoing work to remove non-native, invasive plants.

Access: There’s a parking lot at 6821 Braddock Road. The park is also accessible from Dalton Road, Anders Terrace, Matthew Place, and the parking lot at Immanuel Bible Church.

Improvements: A map of Deerlick Park dated 1985 in the Fairfax County Park Authority’s master plan archives shows a playground, tot lot, picnic area, lighted multi-use court, practice tennis facility, and a trail to Edsall Road. Those amenities were never built.
