Explore a Park: Glasgow Park

Glasgow Park serves the Parklawn neighborhood.

Glasgow Park, at 4028 Fairfax Parkway in the Parklawn neighborhood in Lincolnia, is a nice place to walk a dog, play frisbee, have a picnic, or push a child on a swing.

Features: There’s a tot lot, a paved trail, open grassy area, six picnic tables, two grills, and an information kiosk. Portions of the 4.3-acre park are wooded.

Access: Glasgow Park can be accessed from Arcadia Road and Hawaii Court, as well as Fairfax Parkway. Parking is on the street. Holmes Run Stream Valley Park is on the other side of Fairfax Parkway.

History: Glasgow Park most likely got its name from its proximity to Glasgow Middle School. The school was named for Pulitzer Prize-winning Virginia author Ellen Glasgow (1873-1945).

  1. As far as parking on Fairfax pkwy – parking is actually prohibited on that portion of the road and there are “no parking” signs on the beginnings of the bend but people ignore that. Otherwise, Glasgow is nice and hopefully gets some upgraded equipment in the near future
