Fire damages Woodson HS admin building
Firefighters spent about five hours on the Woodson High School campus Saturday night controlling a fire on the roof of an administrative building adjacent to the school.
The fire did not spread to the main building of the high school, at 9525 Main St., Fairfax.
When fire units arrived at about 3 a.m., they believed the building was vacant, Deputy Chief Bill Betz tweeted. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
Fire investigators haven’t yet determined a cause or estimated the damages. Part of the roof and an outside wall collapsed, WTOP News reported.
Freezing temperatures made the work more difficult, as water from the fire trucks froze on the ground making slick spots.
