The pedestrian struck by a car on Leesburg Pike in Bailey’s Crossroads at 11 a.m. on Dec. 13 has died, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

Nguyet Ly, 68, of Falls Church, was walking east in the westbound travel lane of Leesburg Pike at Magnolia Lane near the shoulder.

The driver of a 2018 Subaru Impreza was making a right turn out of a business in the 5900 block of Leesburg Pike and struck Ly in the roadway. There is no sidewalk where Ly was walking.

She was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries later that evening. Preliminarily, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, according to the FCPD.

The Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation and will report its findings to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for review.

One response to “Pedestrian dies after being struck on Leesburg Pike

  1. Such a sad story. I just moved to Fairfax County and can’t get over the number of pedestrians walking about on main thoroughfares. It is very difficult to keep an eye on the pedestrians, runners, bicyclists, and other vehicles. Driving in DC is easier than Fair Oaks.
