At a candidate forum on Oct. 15, Sizemore Heizer said she would push for increased funding from the state, diversifying Fairfax County’s tax base and economy, protecting immigrants, and preserving as much of Lake Accotink as possible. She opposes a casino in Tysons.

Among other priorities listed on her website: providing more affordable housing, expanding services for seniors and people with disabilities, improving Braddock Road, renovating the Audrey Moore Rec Center, and repurposing empty commercial spaces.

A former corporate lawyer, Sizemore Heizer is the program coordinator and a lecturer for the Human Resource Development Program at Texas Tech University. She was born in the U.S. to parents who immigrated from India.

A timeline hasn’t been set for filling the Braddock seat on the school board. Two candidates have already announced plans to seek endorsement from the Fairfax County Democratic Committee: Tom Dannan, a former PTA president at Terra Centre Elementary School, and Alexa Krezel, president of the Woodson Orchestra Boosters and former member of the FCPS Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee.
