Annandale celebrates ‘Art in Daily Spaces’

Paintings by Susan Yennerell at RAMP.

You don’t have to go to a gallery to see art in Annandale. The Art in Daily Spaces project showcases artworks at six businesses and the Mason Government Center.

The exhibit opened April 13 and will close on May 12.

Ten artists were selected to participate, with one or artists featured at each location:

  • RAMP Optimal Performance and Wellness, 7232 Columbia Pike – Colorful paintings by Susan Yennerell and mixed-media illustrations by XIM3NA. RAMP is hosting an Art Open House on April 20, 3-5 p.m.

  • Soricha Tea & Theater, 7112 Columbia Pike – Birds made of reclaimed fabric by Beth Baldwin.

Fabric birds by Beth Baldwin grace the walls of Soricha Tea & Theater.
  • Seven Hair Line, 7116 Columbia Pike – Community Art for Everyone (CAFE) displays a collective painting project in which residents filled in maps of central Annandale. CAFE got a grant from ArtsFairfax for the Art in Daily Spaces project.

At the Art in Daily Spaces opening reception April 13 at the Mason Government Center, the artists talked about what inspired them and how they produced their artworks.

Art in Daily Spaces is aimed at “elevating art in the community and providing opportunities to young artists,” said James Albright, who organized the project with Hannah Joo, founder and president of CAFE.

    1. Hannah Joo and Community Art For Everone were co-partners in this fun activity. And I expect you to apply if we win this grant again in 2025…
