Fairfax County Public Schools welcomed the community to tour the newly renovated and expanded Braddock Elementary School on May 23.

The project added 3,800 square feet to the Annandale school. “There’s more room for young Eagles to learn,” said FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The modular classroom and trailers are gone, so for Principal Keesha Jackson Muir, the best thing about the project is the fact that all students – there are nearly 840 of them – are now in the building.

Funding for the $31 project came from bonds passed by voters in 2017 and 2019. “This is why your support of bonds matters so much,” said Mason school board member Ricardy Anderson.

The new building has several technology improvements, such as state-of-the-art wireless projectors in each classroom, and new security features, including outdoor cameras and doors that automatically lock.

  2. This makes me so happy! My kids went to Braddock ES and it’s needed renovation for a long time. I’m so happy Braddock is looking so good. Annandale students deserve it.
