Gretchen Bulova wins special election for Virginia House

Gretchen Bulova won a special election on Jan. 13 for Virginia House of Delegates District 11.

Bulova, a Democrat, beat her Republican opponent, Adam Wise, with nearly 69 percent of the vote, according to the Virginia Department of Elections.

She will succeed her husband, David Bulova, in the House of Delegates. He had resigned after being appointed Virginia’s Secretary of Natural Resources by Gov.-Elect Abigail Spanberger.

Bulova is the director of the Office of Historic Alexandria, a member of the VA250 Commission, which oversees the state’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, and chairs the Fairfax250 Commission.

The 11th District comprises the City of Fairfax and parts of Fairfax County, including Fair Oaks and Oakton.
